Varkala

Varkala Beach, located in the coastal town of Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram district, is a peaceful escape along the southwestern shore of India. Unlike the crowded tourist spots, Varkala offers a serene atmosphere, ideal for quiet reflection and relaxation. Varkala is geologically unique for its dramatic red laterite cliffs that line the coast — the only place in southern Kerala where such cliffs meet the sea. Recognized as a national geological monument by the Geological Survey of India, this striking feature is known as the Varkala Formation.
